I don't know about you, but I'm always keen on finding the coolest hipster hideouts in Singapore. Despite the daunting economic gloom that's blanketing Singapore and her people, life still has to go on; filling our tummies and rejuvenating our fatigued selves remain as some of the important things that we can do to strike a better work-life balance.

With more and more brands leaving Singapore's increasingly vacant shopping malls, it certainly doesn't hurt to venture into the heartlands and explore what these cool, hipster establishments have to offer. For those who haven't been keeping up with the times or the news at least, more young enterprisers are opening shops in HDB heartlands. They cite lower rents and being able to stand out as important pull-factors for them to set up their shops literally close to people's hearts. Here, we at GET.com round up 7 super hipster establishments you can visit when you're exploring Singapore's friendly neighbourhoods.

7 Hipster Hideouts At HDB Blocks Around Singapore

1. Creamier

Located under a nondescript HDB block in Toa Payoh, Creamier has some of the best handcrafted ice-cream and waffles in my opinion. You'll probably have to wait for seats as this quaint little place is perennially packed. Although they don't have a million different ice-cream flavours for you to pick from, most of them are pretty shiok. My favourite one has got to be earl grey lavender.

Address:
Block 128
Toa Payoh Lorong 1, #01-835
Singapore 310128

2. Sin Lee Foods

Doesn't the name scream hipster already? Sin Lee Foods surely isn't the easiest place to locate but it is walkable from Tiong Bahru MRT station if you're armed with your trusty GPS. The raw aesthetics in the interior presents a refreshing change from the usual while their food is arguably quite unique in its own right. To be brutally honest, you'd either like or hate their fried chicken with waffles. Their aburi broccoli salad is possibly one of the best broccoli dishes I've had in my life, ever.

Address:
4 Jalan Bukit Ho Swee
#01-164
Singapore 162004

3. Old Hen Coffee Bar

If you're into cold brew coffees, Old Hen Coffee Bar is one of the places you'll have to visit sometime soon. Nestled in the unlikeliest location near Farrer Park MRT station, this cosy little space is a joy for people to catch up, sip some full-flavoured cold brews and while the lazy afternoon away. I only got to try the white cold brew the last time I visited because they ran out of the black version. So, yes, that means I'll be back there soon.

88 Rangoon Road
