Wedding With A View

Couples in Singapore are slowly moving away from the traditional concept of holding a banquet wedding dinner in a hotel. Being blessed with so many rooftop dining options, some couples are opting for a smaller party that comes with a view. You can opt to just have your solemnisation held on top of the world or hold a wedding dinner/lunch that pampers your guests with good food and a stunning view.

Faber Peak

Before all the rooftop bar proliferation in Singapore, Mount Faber provided many couples a respite from the city buzz. Here you can go for a stroll in the greenery of Singapore while admiring the aerial view of the city. You can choose to hold your wedding here at the ballroom, hold your solemnisation at the private dining room or choose to have it at The Garden for a more nature-themed setting.

For Tourists

When I have friends visiting from overseas, a night on a rooftop bar is mandatory. The place used to be CÉ LA VI at the top of Marina Bay Sands. Here's where I would take my foreign friends to enjoy the wondrous view of the Singapore skyline and admire our iconic architecture in the bay area. However, I soon realised that there is a plethora of other choices that will make for a similar or even better Singapore experience.

CÉ LA VI

Better known as the previous Ku De Ta, the alfresco diner and bar offers one of the best bird's eye views of Singapore. Perched precariously on the Skypark at Marina Bay Sands, many tourists and locals alike love the place for its upbeat vibe, classy cocktails and the mandatory selfie. It is no doubt still one of the best places for tourists to take in the view of Singapore and marvel at some our best architectural art.

SuperTree by Indochine

This has grown to become one of my favourite places to bring foreigners as it is definitely less crowded than CÉ LA VI, and the drinks are much cheaper! Many tourists also love to visit the Gardens by the Bay, making this a convenient spot after all that walking to eat and drink the night away while admiring the beautifully-lit gardens at night.

Address: Gardens by the Bay, 18 Marina Gardens Dr, Singapore 018953

Potato Head Folk

Singapore definitely has more to show than the city centre. Those who party and bar-hop will know that the Duxton/Keong Saik area is the new hip part of town, with an array of restaurants and bars to attract every kind of being. Set in the building that was built in 1939, Potato Head Folk seeks to be the home away from home, filling up its 3-storey venue with murals and decorations that are fun and whimsical. The place will give your foreign friends a different perspective of Singapore, albeit a more culturally-focused one that shows that there is more to the little red dot than just high-rise shiny towers.

Address: 36 Keong Saik Rd, Singapore 089143

Oldies But Goldies

Even with so many new rooftop dining options popping up, the pioneers of the rooftop dining trend are still surviving, showing that there is something about them that keeps customers going back for more.

Loof

Loof has been one of the most enduring rooftop bars in the Singapore nightlife scene. Standing for a decade now, Singapore's first standalone rooftop bar has retained its charm despite a plethora of new establishments popping up across the city's skyline. The low-rise rooftop provides a tree-top level view and is home to party goers who like a relaxed vibe. The menu features locally-inspired fares such as a chili crab dip with fried mantou as well as a western version of popiah filled with egg mayo.

Orgo

The rooftop bar sitting atop the famous "durian" is surprisingly low-profile and discreet amongst its peers in the surrounding vicinity. The bar has an unpretentious vibe and is a perfect place for after-office drinks or a quiet venue to discuss the theatre show you've just watched at the Esplanade. The place is famous for its imaginative cocktails with Asian inspirations as well as a contemporary French-influenced menu.

If you always thought that beer could be as classy as wine, then LeVeL33 is the place for you. It features a beer-pairing food menu as well as a Saturday brunch menu so that you can enjoy the panoramic view of Marina Bay sands in the wondrous daylight as well.
